“Shit-fire!” Jean yelped, shattering the quiet in the little room. He dropped the magazine he’d been perusing as his hand flew to his mouth.

Roy started at the peculiar curse so violently he almost dropped his drink onto the thick alchemic volume open on his lap.

“What? What happened?”

Jean winced, and sent Roy a sheepish glance from his side of the sofa where they’d been enjoying their reading and each other’s silent company.

“It’s nothing. Bit my lip again.”

Roy smirked at that a little. It was one of his orally fixated lover’s more endearing little ticks; whenever his mouth was devoid of its usual cigarette, he chewed his lips. They were nearly always chapped and ragged, and often bore thin, crimson scrapes where they’d bled and then scabbed over. Roy didn’t mind. It made kissing more interesting.

“My poor Havoc,” Roy said, pumping up the sarcasm enough to make Jean glare. He laid his book and brandy aside and slid nearer. “Let me see it; is it bad?”

Jean sighed, and dutifully lowered his hand.

On his lower lip, slightly left of center, a drop of blood was welling up. It looked large, almost the size of a pencil eraser, but Jean was still, and instead of dribbling it continued to well upward, swelling like a tiny scarlet balloon. Roy watched in fascination.

“Is it bad?” Jean asked at last. The motion of his lips broke the surface tension and the little bubble of blood dripped downward, painting his chin with a vibrant stripe. It swelled again at the faint stubble at the base of his jaw in a fat, quivering droplet. Without thinking, Roy’s hand shot out, catching the droplet before its red could stain Jean’s dark blue uniform with a splotch of purple. It made a faint noise—pat!—like a raindrop hitting soft soil. The ruby blot on Roy’s pale finger was quite pretty.

“Not very,” Roy said, and abruptly brought his finger upward and slid it into his mouth.

“Eww, don’t—” Jean started, but too late to stop him. Roy licked the droplet away, and the coppery, salty taste rushed across his tongue in a wave. For a quick moment, thoughts of his failed effort to formulate a human transmutation method flashed across his mind, and a series of words (oxygen carbon dioxide nitrogen plasma protein hemoglobin) crossed his brain.

This is your taste, he thought, this is the way the chemicals and elements of Havoc taste. The entire world is composed of little alchemic miracles, and you are one. And you are mine.

He leaned forward, pressing Jean back sideways into the afghan he kept in the corner of the sofa in case he got chilly while reading late. He licked Jean’s chin. The metallic taste in his mouth spread, and he began to salivate in response to the strong, not-quite-unpleasant flavor. He swallowed. Reaching the small and still-welling cut on Jean’s lip, he kissed, a series of light, gentle kisses that spread thin blood over Roy’s own lips. Havoc whimpered a little, and not in pain.

“Roy,” Jean murmured, though the proximity of Roy to his lips made him swallow the sound. Roy relaxed on top of him, his erection pressing into Jean’s thigh in a comfortable pressure. “Roy, I-”

“My poor Havoc,” Roy said again, this time as smooth as silk and without a hint of sarcasm. He compressed his lips around the sensitive little cut and began to suck it, slowly, sensually, and Havoc’s moans swelled out around his mouth in warm, moist bursts of air.

See you guys tomorrow for letter W. Sorry this one came a day late; I was literally only home for twenty minutes yesterday, just long enough to feed Puck. I haven't even slept in my house the last two days.
